What does the onboarding process with the noSilo look like?
New employee — John
John begins working as a machine operator for a manufacturing company. A while ago, the company implemented NoSilo software, thanks to which onboarding is much more efficient than before.
From the very beginning of his employment, John has had his profile in the application, which will now be a base of information about requirements, programmes, training, documents, processes, and much more. This is a lot of information; fortunately, the intuitive platform is easy to use, so John easily learns to use the most important functions for him in a short time.
Bureaucracy
The stacks of documents you need to start the work are what employees and the HR department like the most, right? Not necessarily. Fortunately, noSilo ensures that all formalities have been completed.
John finds a prepared HR checklist on his profile. Agreement signed? You can check it off! Right? Delivered! Medical exams? Done. Step by step, both John and his manager make sure that the company has received the necessary documents. At this stage, John also learns the work schedule for the coming period.
At all times, John can see what tasks he has already completed and what still awaits him. He can also add comments to tasks from the checklist to stay in constant contact with his supervisor in case there are any doubts about each item on the list.
Accesses and basic information
John started working at the production plant, which uses individual identifiers in the form of magnetic cards. For our hero to start working, he must receive his ID along with appropriate permissions, such as the ability to enter the production hall and access to HR and MES systems.
At this stage, John also reads the security instructions and learns how to use the HR system and the ID badge. Most training takes place online on the noSilo platform. After successful completion, the employee confirms in the system that he or she has read the information.
Introduction to the factory
The documentation is ready, and access is granted, so it’s time for John to be introduced to the factory. Thanks to the previous checklist, HR knows what next tasks await him:
- getting to know the factory layout;
- learning about the structure of the department;
- meet the team members working on the line;
- 1:1 conversation with the manager;
- showing the workstation;
- buddy assignment.
John learns what his workstation looks like and how he should move around the hall. He will now collaborate with the mentor responsible for its implementation. There is a lot of information about the construction and operation of a factory. Therefore, in the noSilo application, John can view the factory layout, lines with the workstations assigned to them, machines used, and manufactured details.
Familiarization with the process
Getting to know the process is the most time-consuming stage of onboarding. Here, John will gain knowledge and develop skills that will allow him to work independently.
John’s development path has been carefully planned. On his profile, he will find information about the required competencies and the current skill level. The first days of work consist of understanding the process, observing the buddy performing on-the-job training, and trying to independently complete the task under his supervision.
Finally, John feels that he can start working on his own. However, sometimes doubts and questions still arise. His first source of information is the noSilo knowledge base; this is where on-the-job instructions are located, most often in video format. John quickly gets answers to his questions and returns to work. He didn’t have to leave his post, even for a moment, to seek support. What’s more, the instructional videos were recorded directly at the workplace—John instantly recalls his training and already knows what next step he should take!
Verification of knowledge and skills
After each training session, John must confirm that he understands and remembers the process rules. Before he starts working completely independently, the manager wants to be sure that John is properly trained.
John proceeds to confirm his qualifications. The tests he completed, checklists, and audits indicate that he contributed perfectly to the training process and can work independently.
Independent work with noSilo support
John has finished onboarding. He completed the training, passed the tests, and now works independently, achieving the expected quality and work efficiency.
What if he has doubts? This happens to even the best employees! Fortunately, John still has access to the knowledge base and can find answers to his questions at any time.
Onboarding with noSilo allowed Janek to quickly and effectively prepare for effective work. His results and the satisfied manager confirm this.
