Pratt & Whitney (P&W) is a world-class supplier of engines for the aviation industry, employing approximately 6,000 people in Poland. Employees are located in four different locations. Among other things, the company supplies drives for F35 fighters, Airbus A320neo passenger planes, and Gulfstream business planes. P&W is part of the RTX Corporation, which employs over 180,000 people worldwide. Due to many applicable regulations in the aviation and defence industries, the business need was to find a solution that, while maintaining the highest global standards, would improve production efficiency, reduce quality errors, and support the processes of a learning organization.

Easy knowledge sharing

At Pratt & Whitney, we believe that the greatest and most valuable source of competitive advantage is people and their competencies, which is why we set out to create an environment in which employees can acquire new knowledge and share their experiences with colleagues. For this purpose, we used social media mechanisms like Facebook or YouTube, and our employees became the main content creators. After just a few months, we observed an exponential increase in the company’s catalogued know-how in the form of friendly video guides created by the operators of individual production lines. All content was immediately assigned to machines, workstations, and products and distributed within the organization. On the one hand, this solution appreciates employees with the greatest knowledge for their contribution. On the other hand, the process of introducing new people to work has been significantly simplified, thanks to the aggregated, systematised knowledge assigned to the product and job position.
At noSilo (formerly Dolineo Factory), each manager has an interactive competence matrix at their disposal. It allows them to see the team’s skills, qualifications, and level of knowledge on an ongoing basis. Every competency can be assigned instructional videos, on-the-job training, training with a tutor, and presentations. What distinguishes noSilo competency matrix from previously used solutions is their comprehensiveness and ease of use.
Managing several thousand people on a competency matrix is no longer problematic thanks to the standard and smooth operation offered by the platform. Furthermore, detecting inconsistencies in training, authorizations, or competency validity happens automatically and no longer takes up valuable time for managers.
When hiring a new employee or turnover within the company, the supervisor has a view of the elements that the employee needs to complete, as well as the current level of skills and the history of their competencies. The matrix also allows you to manage human resources in the event of absenteeism, departures, or changing production needs. One view allows you to manage the flexibility of your production lines.

More efficient audits thanks to noSilo
„Information collected in noSilo makes preparing for various audits and presenting required data much more efficient. All we need is an application that contains all of the necessary information.”
Łukasz Szczekala, OpX Project Manager, P&W Rzeszów
noSilo was designed to meet the highest standards of manufacturing companies, including those resulting from ISO standardization. Ensure all changes in skills, qualifications, training, competencies, or knowledge are registered and prepared for presentation during the audit. The knowledge verification module in the application involves tests and practical exams, where the examiner confirms individual elements of the exam, and the protocol is sent directly to the employee’s profile.
